Varsity Nabs Win Over Dunwoody Despite Early 3-Run Inning, 12-3

Walton Raiders Varsity weathered a push by Dunwoody in the third inning where Walton Raiders Varsity coughed up three runs, but Walton Raiders Varsity still won 12-3 on Saturday. R Herdin and R Rosen each drove in runs during the inning.

Walton Raiders Varsity got on the board in the first inning when Jared Jones homered on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Walton Raiders Varsity scored six runs in the second inning. Walton Raiders Varsity‘s big bats in the inning were led by an error on a ball put in play by Eli Pilger and Harry Mintz, a walk by Carl Adler, a single by Kristian Campbell, by Jones, and a fielder’s choice by Ben Anderson.

Oliver Wood was credited with the victory for Walton Raiders Varsity. He allowed three hits and three runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one. Brick Conway threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

N Laverde took the loss for Dunwoody. He surrendered six runs on four hits over one and one-third innings.

Walton Raiders Varsity tallied two home runs on the day. Campbell had a long ball in the sixth inning. Jones went deep in the first inning.

Walton Raiders Varsity had eight hits in the game. Campbell, Jones, and Anderson each had multiple hits for Walton Raiders Varsity. Anderson, Jones, and Campbell each managed two hits to lead Walton Raiders Varsity.

Herdin went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Dunwoody in hits.
